Emily was awarded not once, but in two conferences at the 102nd AMS Annual Meeting for her poster presentation: &#8220;Updates to the GOES-16 Split-Window Precipitable Water Satellite Product.&#8221; This is work that Emily did as an NSF\/REU student at Colorado State University\/CIRA with Jack Dostalek and Lewis Grasso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/E3C2E5FA-A3CB-4E61-BF7F-DC1C3C2CA739_1_105_c-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-931\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations also to Andrew Muehr!! Andrew presented his undergraduate research on &#8220;The Effect of Mid-Level Shear on Supercell Characteristics and Evolution&#8221; at the First Year Research Experience (FYRE) spring poster session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/clipped-1018x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-959\" width=\"509\" height=\"512\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This summer, three of the group members \u2013 James, Theresa,  and Emily \u2013 will be embarking on a field campaign in Taiwan and Japan as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/precip.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PRECIP 2022<\/a> field campaign (Prediction of Rainfall Extremes Campaign in the Pacific) to study extreme rainfall. After two years of pandemic delay, we&#8217;re excited to have this opportunity to learn more about what drives heavy tropical rainfall, thanks to the National Science Foundation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/precip.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/PRECIP_logo-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-939\" width=\"270\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Emily Luschen!!
