{"id":798,"date":"2021-07-27T22:18:54","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T22:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jruppert.oucreate.com\/?p=798"},"modified":"2021-07-27T22:18:54","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T22:18:54","slug":"the-group-is-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/index.php\/2021\/07\/27\/the-group-is-official\/","title":{"rendered":"The group is official!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the group&#8217;s first official post, I am <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>thrilled<\/em><\/span> to welcome the first students of the group \u2013 <meta charset=\"utf-8\">Emily Luschen (left) and Theresa Lincheck (right) \u2013 who will begin graduate research this coming fall on cloud\u2013radiation feedback in the tropics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-794e3cfa wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG-2603-copy-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-819\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jruppert.metr.ou.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Theresa_REU_Summer2020_headshot-copy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-820\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Emily completed her B.S. here in OU&#8217;s School of Meteorology, so is already right at home here. She conducted capstone and honors research projects related to midlatitude hailstorms and lightning, and is now completing an REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) sponsored by NSF at Colorado State University, where she&#8217;s gaining experience working with satellite remote sensing data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Theresa is coming to OU from Cleveland State University, where she completed both a B.S. in physics and a B.M. (Music Performance), as a virtuoso with the clarinet. Although Theresa comes from physics, she has always had a passion for atmospheric science. She got to pursue this passion through an <meta charset=\"utf-8\">REU here at OU in the summer of 2020 using observational data to examine arctic boundary layer behavior.<meta charset=\"utf-8\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both Emily and Theresa are ambitious and excited for their next steps in research, which will involve examining the nature and role of cloud\u2013radiation feedback in the context of tropical dynamics.
